Cute and durable baby clothing....

After having two baby showers, one with my friends and family and one at work, I now want to share some of my thoughts on some of the clothing we received for Lucas. Particularly the items we received that were from the children’s clothing brand Carter's.

I absolutely love these clothes. I have washed them many times already in just two months! They still look great, almost new. My baby seems really comfy in them. The colors and designs are the cutest! Most of their stuff come in sets- i.e. a onsey, footed pants and a sleeper. The value is unbeatable. I also received several receiving blankets from Carter's, again the colors and selections are the best! They are soft and sturdy.

In the past I have purchased baby clothes from Old Navy and Children's Place, both stores I would recommend. But I do like the colors and design of Carter's better, simply because they have more baby cuteness to them!

One company that I was not familiar with and that I did receive also very cute items from is Crazy 8. I believe that Crazy 8 is a spin-off of Gymboree, another store that I love but the prices aren't my cup of tea.

Overall I believe I will continue to purchase clothing from Carter's until my baby grows out of toddler clothing (they only make clothing up until 5T). After that I will probably purchase from Children's Place, and Old Navy or where ever I find a good bargain. I included a link of a set that I absolutely love from Carter's at the bottom of this post....

My diaper run so far......

My family and I just welcomed our baby boy Lucas. It had been more than eight years since our last baby and many baby products have changed. First let me start by sharing my views on diapers.  I'm not a professional blogger just a mom wanting to share my experience.

We started out using Pampers brand disposable diapers for newborns.  In the past I did not have a good experience with these, they would leak all over and my baby girl would always end up needing a change of clothes. But at the  hospital they provided Pamper. This time around it worked well and  the neat thing about them is that they have a indicator strip right in the front that lets you know when the baby is wet. This is not a feature that they had eight years ago. For new parents the  indicator strip is great.
But being a loyal Huggies user we already had a huge stash of Huggies disposable diapers at home ready for our baby.  We were gladly surprised that the huggies newborn smugglers also has an indicator strip.  After about a month and a half of using the huggies I have noticed that they feel moist to the touch on the outside making my baby's clothes feel damp :-(  So we decided to buy a small pack of Luvs diapers. My first impression was that they looked cheap and flimsy. But don't judge too quickly. They are very thin but very absorbent. The ones I bought don't have an indicator strip but you can tell when baby is wet because the gel inside the diaper swells. Besides being thinner and cheaper (less expensive) than Huggies they do not leave my baby's clothes damp.

My experience with diapers does not end there. We also tried g diapers a hybrid diaper system that uses both disposable inserts and cloth inserts (reusable). They are a great concept but require more work. They are a good way of saving some money. We use them once a day and at the end of the week we have six to seven diapers that we were able to save. If you are looking to save money go with the cloth inserts. I personally will l not buy more of the disposable inserts, the only reason I got them was that they came in the starter kit that I bought. The disposable inserts cost almost as much as regular disposable diapers, I can only see hard core environmentalists buying them. In my case I got them mainly because I wanted to save a little money and its a plus that its good for the environment. One last thing, baby did seem to grow out of the newborn and small size pretty quickly so I will have to buy a medium soon, I'm also still looking into other reusable diaper brands.

I don't think this is the last of my diaper adventures with my new baby. I plan to try the Walmart brand of disposable diapers some time soon. One of my friends at work has highly recommended them. Once I try those I will give an update.
